Guide to Building a Home in St. Louis

Updated: Apr 27, 2019

April 26, 2019

With historically low inventory in St. Louis, most buyers are turning to new construction to find their new home. I have gathered some of the top builders in St. Louis with a variety of price points for every budget, so you know your options.

Building a new home is a fun process! You get to pick everything that goes into your new place and make it your own. If you have built before, you know the process can also be overwhelming and tedious! My job is to take care of the overwhelming aspects so you can focus on the fun parts, like picking out your new countertops and flooring.

Here is how I will help with your new home build:

  • Research and find the best builder to fit your needs. Every builder has a specialty and something different to offer. I will help you find the one that matches with what you want. Building a home can take anywhere from 4 months to over a year, so you want to be sure you are working with a builder that has your best interest in mind.

  • Represent you through the entire building process. The agent at the builder's company is representing the builder, not you. How do you know if you are getting a fair deal? How do you know that they are doing what is best for you? I will work with you to know your needs and goals for your family in order to best represent you.

  • Find a lot in the best location for you. Convenience, privacy, walk-out basement, acreage are all factors in choosing the lot you want.

  • Help you know the best upgrades for your money. We all have a budget that we need to stick to! I can help guide you in picking quality upgrades for your money, so you get the best return on investment. A good rule of thumb is to stick with the classics on the large items and add your own personal style in the details. When it comes to extras like decks or pools, at times, it is better to get bids from different contractors to see if you can get a better price than what the construction company would charge.

  • Go to all inspections! There will be several types of walk-throughs and inspections during the building process. I will go to all of them to make sure everything is staying on task and passing inspections. You should go too, as it is an opportunity to see the progress of your home.

  • Celebrate with you when you move into your brand new home! Now it's time to party! Let's throw a house warming party to welcome all your friends and family to your new digs!

Without further ado, let's get to the main event. Below are the go to home builders in the St. Louis area listed from budget friendly to high-end luxury.
